Samples: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates. Assay Type: Sandwich. Detection Range: 9.38 ng/ml -600 ng/ml. Sensitivity: 2.34 ng/ml.
other info2 :
Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
products description :
Principle of the Assay This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for APOA4 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any APOA4 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for APOA4 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of APOA4 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
may play a role in lipid transport [RGD, Feb 2006]
uniprot summary :
APOA4: May have a role in chylomicrons and VLDL secretion and catabolism. Required for efficient activation of lipoprotein lipase by ApoC-II; potent activator of LCAT. Apoa-IV is a major component of HDL and chylomicrons. Synthesized primarily in the intestine and secreted in plasma. Belongs to the apolipoprotein A1/A4/E family. Protein type: Endoplasmic reticulum; Lipid-binding; Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted; Cell adhesion. Cellular Component: extracellular space; chylomicron; cell surface. Molecular Function: antioxidant activity; protein homodimerization activity; copper ion binding; cholesterol transporter activity; cholesterol binding; phosphatidylcholine binding; lipid binding. Biological Process: response to food; cholesterol metabolic process; multicellular organismal lipid catabolic process; positive regulation of fatty acid biosynthetic process; removal of superoxide radicals; lipid homeostasis; protein-lipid complex assembly; lipoprotein metabolic process; cholesterol efflux; lipid transport; cholesterol biosynthetic process; axon regeneration in the peripheral nervous system; phosphatidylcholine metabolic process; leukocyte adhesion; cholesterol homeostasis; reverse cholesterol transport; regulation of cholesterol absorption; phospholipid efflux; innate immune response in mucosa; hydrogen peroxide catabolic process; response to triglyceride; response to lipid hydroperoxide; positive regulation of lipoprotein lipase activity; regulation of cholesterol transport
