MyBioSource MBS8241635 image 2
Immunohistochemical analysis of KCNK9 staining in rat brain, mouse brain formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a protein that contains multiple transmembrane regions and two pore-forming P domains and functions as a pH-dependent potassium channel. Amplification and overexpression of this gene have been observed in several types of human carcinomas. This gene is imprinted in the brain, with preferential expression from the maternal allele. A mutation in this gene was associated with Birk-Barel mental retardation dysmorphism syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2013]
uniprot summary :
KCNK9: pH-dependent, voltage-insensitive, background potassium channel protein. Mainly found in the cerebellum. Also found in adrenal gland, kidney and lung. Belongs to the two pore domain potassium channel (TC 1.A.1.8) family. Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Membrane protein, integral. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8q24.3. Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane; synaptic vesicle. Molecular Function: potassium ion leak channel activity; protein heterodimerization activity; protein homodimerization activity; voltage-gated potassium channel activity. Biological Process: potassium ion transport; stabilization of membrane potential; synaptic transmission. Disease: Birk-barel Mental Retardation Dysmorphism Syndrome
