Samples: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. Detection Range: 62.5-4000pg/ml. Sensitivity: <37.5pg/ml
other info2 :
Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): 3 samples with low, middle and high level Txn were tested 20 times on one plate, respectively. Intra-Assay: CV<8%. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): 3 samples with low, middle and high level Txn were tested on 3 different plates, 8 replicates in each plate. CV (%) = SD/meanX100. Inter-Assay: CV<10%
products description :
Principle of the Assay: This kit was based on sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. Anti- Txn antibody was pre-coated onto 96-well plates. And the biotin conjugated anti- Txn antibody was used as detection antibodies. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody were added to the wells subsequently, and washed with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with wash buffer. TMB substrates were used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the Txn amount of sample captured in plate. Read the O.D. absorbance at 450nm in a microplate reader, and then the concentration of Txn can be calculated.

ncbi summary :
protein-disulfide reductase enzyme that is important for redox signalling during apoptosis and cell growth [RGD, Feb 2006]
uniprot summary :
TXN: Participates in various redox reactions through the reversible oxidation of its active center dithiol to a disulfide and catalyzes dithiol-disulfide exchange reactions. Plays a role in the reversible S-nitrosylation of cysteine residues in target proteins, and thereby contributes to the response to intracellular nitric oxide. Nitrosylates the active site Cys of CASP3 in response to nitric oxide (NO), and thereby inhibits caspase-3 activity. Induces the FOS/JUN AP-1 DNA-binding activity in ionizing radiation (IR) cells through its oxidation/reduction status and stimulates AP-1 transcriptional activity. Homodimer; disulfide-linked. Interacts with TXNIP through the redox-active site. Interacts with MAP3K5 and CASP3. In case of infection, interacts with S.typhimurium protein slrP. Interacts with APEX1; the interaction stimulates the FOS/JUN AP-1 DNA- binding activity in a redox-dependent manner. Up-regulated by ionizing radiation. Belongs to the thioredoxin family. Protein type: Nuclear receptor co-regulator. Cellular Component: axon; cell soma; cytoplasm; cytosol; dendrite; extracellular region; mitochondrion; nucleus. Molecular Function: enzyme binding; oxidoreductase activity, acting on sulfur group of donors, disulfide as acceptor; peptide disulfide oxidoreductase activity; protein disulfide oxidoreductase activity; thioredoxin-disulfide reductase activity. Biological Process: cell redox homeostasis; glycerol ether metabolic process; negative regulation of protein export from nucleus; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; positive regulation of DNA binding; positive regulation of peptidyl-serine phosphorylation; protein folding; regulation of protein import into nucleus, translocation; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; response to activity; response to axon injury; response to drug; response to radiation; response to selenium ion; sulfate assimilation; transcription, DNA-dependent
