specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of LTBP-1. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between LTBP-1 and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between LTBP-1 and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
storage stability :
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, body fluid and tissue homogenate. Assay Type: Competitive. Sensitivity: 1.0 ng/mL.
products description :
Intended Uses: This LTBP-1 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Human LTBP-1. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!. Principle of the Assay LTBP-1 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-LTBP-1 antibody and an LTBP-1-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with LTBP-1-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the LTBP-1 concentration since LTBP-1 from samples and LTBP-1-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-LTBP-1 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by LTBP-1 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind LTBP-1-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The LTBP-1 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the family of latent TGF-beta binding proteins (LTBPs). The secretion and activation of TGF-betas is regulated by their association with latency-associated proteins and with latent TGF-beta binding proteins. The product of this gene targets latent complexes of transforming growth factor beta to the extracellular matrix, where the latent cytokine is subsequently activated by several different mechanisms. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
LTBP1: May be involved in the assembly, secretion and targeting of TGFB1 to sites at which it is stored and/or activated. May play critical roles in controlling and directing the activity of TGFB1. May have a structural role in the extra cellular matrix (ECM). Belongs to the LTBP family. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted; Chaperone. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p22-p21. Cellular Component: extracellular matrix; proteinaceous extracellular matrix; protein complex; extracellular region; microfibril. Molecular Function: transforming growth factor beta receptor activity; protein binding; transforming growth factor beta binding; microfibril binding; calcium ion binding.
