specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of TRPV-1. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between TRPV-1 and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between TRPV-1 and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
storage stability :
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, Cell Culture Supernatants, body fluid and tissue homogenate. Assay Type: Competitive. Sensitivity: 0.1 ng/mL.
other info2 :
Intended Uses: This TRPV-1 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Rat TRPV-1. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!

products description :
Principle of the assay: TRPV-1 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-TRPV-1 antibody and an TRPV-1-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with TRPV-1-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the TRPV-1 concentration since TRPV-1 from samples and TRPV-1-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-TRPV-1 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by TRPV-1 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind TRPV-1-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The TRPV-1 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

ncbi summary :
Capsaicin, the main pungent ingredient in hot chili peppers, elicits a sensation of burning pain by selectively activating sensory neurons that convey information about noxious stimuli to the central nervous system. The protein encoded by this gene is a receptor for capsaicin and is a non-selective cation channel that is structurally related to members of the TRP family of ion channels. This receptor is also activated by increases in temperature in the noxious range, suggesting that it functions as a transducer of painful thermal stimuli in vivo. Four transcript variants encoding the same protein, but with different 5' UTR sequence, have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
