specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of SFRP-5. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between SFRP-5 and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between SFRP-5 and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
storage stability :
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, body fluid and tissue homogenate. Sensitivity: 0.1 ng/mL. Assay Type: Sandwich
other info2 :
Intended Uses: This SFRP-5 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Human SFRP-5. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!

products description :
Principle of the Assay: SFRP-5 ELISA kit applies the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate has been pre-coated with a monoclonal antibody specific for SFRP-5. Standards or samples are then added to the microtiter plate wells and SFRP-5 if present, will bind to the antibody pre-coated wells. In order to quantitatively determine the amount of SFRP-5 present in the sample, a standardized preparation of horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated polyclonal antibody, specific for SFRP-5 are added to each well to "sandwich" the SFRP-5 immobilized on the plate. The microtiter plate undergoes incubation, and then the wells are thoroughly washed to remove all unbound components. Next, substrate solutions are added to each well. The enzyme (HRP) and substrate are allowed to react over a short incubation period. Only those wells that contain SFRP-5 and enzyme-conjugated antibody will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The SFRP-5 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

ncbi summary :
Secreted frizzled-related protein 5 (SFRP5) is a member of the SFRP family that contains a cysteine-rich domain homologous to the putative Wnt-binding site of Frizzled proteins. SFRPs act as soluble modulators of Wnt signaling. SFRP5 and SFRP1 may be involved in determining the polarity of photoreceptor cells in the retina. SFRP5 is highly expressed in the retinal pigment epithelium, and moderately expressed in the pancreas. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
SFRP5: Soluble frizzled-related proteins (sFRPS) function as modulators of Wnt signaling through direct interaction with Wnts. They have a role in regulating cell growth and differentiation in specific cell types. SFRP5 may be involved in determining the polarity of photoreceptor, and perhaps, other cells in the retina. Belongs to the secreted frizzled-related protein (sFRP) family. Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q24.1. Cellular Component: extracellular space; integral to membrane. Molecular Function: G-protein coupled receptor activity; Wnt-protein binding; Wnt receptor activity. Biological Process: negative regulation of JNK activity; negative regulation of cell proliferation; anatomical structure morphogenesis; convergent extension involved in axis elongation; negative regulation of protein kinase B signaling cascade; visual perception; apoptosis; negative regulation of transcription factor activity; establishment and/or maintenance of cell polarity; digestive tract morphogenesis; cell differentiation; signal transduction
