products description :
Intended Uses: This CTGF ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Porcine CTGF. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!. Principle of the Assay: CTGF ELISA kit applies the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate has been pre-coated with a monoclonal antibody specific for CTGF. Standards or samples are then added to the microtiter plate wells and CTGF if present, will bind to the antibody pre-coated wells. In order to quantitatively determine the amount of CTGF present in the sample, a standardized preparation of horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated polyclonal antibody, specific for CTGF are added to each well to "sandwich" the CTGF immobilized on the plate. The microtiter plate undergoes incubation, and then the wells are thoroughly washed to remove all unbound components. Next, substrate solutions are added to each well. The enzyme (HRP) and substrate are allowed to react over a short incubation period. Only those wells that contain CTGF and enzyme-conjugated antibody will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The CTGF concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is a mitogen that is secreted by vascular endothelial cells. The encoded protein plays a role in chondrocyte proliferation and differentiation, cell adhesion in many cell types, and is related to platelet-derived growth factor. Certain polymorphisms in this gene have been linked with a higher incidence of systemic sclerosis. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2009]
uniprot summary :
CTGF: Major connective tissue mitoattractant secreted by vascular endothelial cells. Promotes proliferation and differentiation of chondrocytes. Mediates heparin- and divalent cation-dependent cell adhesion in many cell types including fibroblasts, myofibroblasts, endothelial and epithelial cells. Enhances fibroblast growth factor-induced DNA synthesis. Belongs to the CCN family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Cell adhesion; Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6q23.1. Cellular Component: Golgi apparatus; proteinaceous extracellular matrix; extracellular space; cis-Golgi network; intracellular membrane-bound organelle; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; extracellular region; plasma membrane; cell cortex; cytosol. Molecular Function: integrin binding; heparin binding; insulin-like growth factor binding; protein binding; growth factor activity; fibronectin binding. Biological Process: response to peptide hormone stimulus; epidermis development; response to anoxia; cell-matrix adhesion; positive regulation of collagen biosynthetic process; positive regulation of caspase activity; positive regulation of JNK cascade; cellular lipid metabolic process; response to estradiol stimulus; cell-cell signaling; positive regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of stress fiber formation; response to glucose stimulus; response to wounding; tissue homeostasis; angiogenesis; regulation of cell growth; cell adhesion; cell differentiation; positive regulation of cell activation; cartilage condensation; integrin-mediated signaling pathway; transcription initiation from RNA polymerase II promoter; cell migration; ossification; fibroblast growth factor receptor signaling pathway; organ senescence; response to mineralocorticoid stimulus; response to amino acid stimulus; gene expression; positive regulation of protein amino acid phosphorylation; regulation of chondrocyte differentiation; positive regulation of cell differentiation; lung development
