specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of IFNbeta. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between IFNbeta and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between IFNbeta and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.

products description :
Intended Uses: This IFNbeta ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Mouse IFNbeta. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!. Principle of the Assay: IFNbeta ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-IFNbeta antibody and an IFNbeta-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with IFNbeta-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the IFNbeta concentration since IFNbeta from samples and IFNbeta-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-IFNbeta antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by IFNbeta from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind IFNbeta-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The IFNbeta concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the type II interferon family. The protein encoded is a soluble cytokine with antiviral, immunoregulatory and anti-tumor properties and is a potent activator of macrophages. Mutations in this gene are associated with aplastic anemia.[provided by RefSeq, Nov 2009]
uniprot summary :
IFNG: Produced by lymphocytes activated by specific antigens or mitogens. IFN-gamma, in addition to having antiviral activity, has important immunoregulatory functions. It is a potent activator of macrophages, it has antiproliferative effects on transformed cells and it can potentiate the antiviral and antitumor effects of the type I interferons. Homodimer. Released primarily from activated T lymphocytes. Belongs to the type II (or gamma) interferon family. Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Cytokine; Secreted; Membrane protein, integral. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q14. Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region; external side of plasma membrane. Molecular Function: interferon-gamma receptor binding; cytokine activity.
