specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of IL-6. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between IL-6 and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between IL-6 and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
storage stability :
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, Cell Culture Supernatants, body fluid and tissue homogenate. Assay Type: Competitive. Sensitivity: 1.0 pg/mL.
other info2 :
Intended Uses: This IL-6 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Chicken IL-6. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!

products description :
Principle of the assay: IL-6 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-IL-6 antibody and an IL-6-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with IL-6-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the IL-6 concentration since IL-6 from samples and IL-6-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-IL-6 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by IL-6 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind IL-6-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The IL-6 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

uniprot summary :
Function: Cytokine with a wide variety of biological functions. It is a potent inducer of the acute phase response. Plays an essential role in the final differentiation of B-cells into Ig-secreting cells Involved in lymphocyte and monocyte differentiation. It induces myeloma and plasmacytoma growth and induces nerve cells differentiation Acts on B-cells, T-cells, hepatocytes, hematopoietic progenitor cells and cells of the CNS. Also acts as a myokine. It is discharged into the bloodstream after muscle contraction and acts to increase the breakdown of fats and to improve insulin resistance . By similarity. Subcellular location: Secreted. Sequence similarities: Belongs to the IL-6 superfamily.
