reactivity :
Canine
specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of PECAM-1. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between PECAM-1 and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between PECAM-1 and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
storage stability :
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, Cell Culture Supernatants, body fluid and tissue homogenate. Assay Type: Competitive. Sensitivity: 1.0 pg/mL.
other info2 :
Intended Uses: This PECAM-1 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Canine PECAM-1. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!

products description :
Principle of the Assay: PECAM-1 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-PECAM-1 antibody and an PECAM-1-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with PECAM-1-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the PECAM-1 concentration since PECAM-1 from samples and PECAM-1-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-PECAM-1 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by PECAM-1 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind PECAM-1-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The PECAM-1 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is found on the surface of platelets, monocytes, neutrophils, and some types of T-cells, and makes up a large portion of endothelial cell intercellular junctions. The encoded protein is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and is likely involved in leukocyte migration, angiogenesis, and integrin activation. [provided by RefSeq, May 2010]
uniprot summary :
PECAM-1: a cell adhesion molecule expressed on platelets and at endothelial cell intercellular junctions. Plays a role in modulation of integrin-mediated cell adhesion, transendothelial migration, angiogenesis, apoptosis, cell migration, negative regulation of immune cell signaling, autoimmunity, macrophage phagocytosis, IgE-mediated anaphylaxis and thrombosis. Undergoes alternative splicing, generating multiple isoforms in vascular beds of various tissues. Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Cell adhesion. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q23.3. Cellular Component: extracellular space; platelet alpha granule membrane; plasma membrane; integral to membrane; cell junction. Molecular Function: protein binding. Biological Process: platelet activation; extracellular matrix organization and biogenesis; platelet degranulation; diapedesis; cell recognition; cell adhesion; signal transduction; blood coagulation; leukocyte migration; phagocytosis
