reactivity :
Bovine
specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of LBP. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between LBP and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between LBP and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
storage stability :
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, Cell Culture Supernatants, body fluid and tissue homogenate. Assay Type: Competitive. Sensitivity: 1.0 ng/mL.
other info2 :
Intended Uses: This LBP ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Bovine LBP. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!

products description :
Principle of the Assay: LBP ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-LBP antibody and an LBP-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with LBP-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the LBP concentration since LBP from samples and LBP-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-LBP antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by LBP from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind LBP-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The LBP concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is involved in the acute-phase immunologic response to gram-negative bacterial infections. Gram-negative bacteria contain a glycolipid, lipopolysaccharide (LPS), on their outer cell wall. Together with bactericidal permeability-increasing protein (BPI), the encoded protein binds LPS and interacts with the CD14 receptor, probably playing a role in regulating LPS-dependent monocyte responses. Studies in mice suggest that the encoded protein is necessary for the rapid acute-phase response to LPS but not for the clearance of LPS from circulation. This protein is part of a family of structurally and functionally related proteins, including BPI, plasma cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP), and phospholipid transfer protein (PLTP).
