specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of HEPA. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between HEPA and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between HEPA and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
storage stability :
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C.

products description :
Intended Uses: This HEPA ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Porcine HEPA. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!. Principle of the Assay: HEPA ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-HEPA antibody and an HEPA-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with HEPA-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the HEPA concentration since HEPA from samples and HEPA-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-HEPA antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by HEPA from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind HEPA-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The HEPA concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

Iron Metabolism In Placenta Pathway (672461)
ncbi summary :
The product encoded by this gene is involved in the maintenance of iron homeostasis, and it is necessary for the regulation of iron storage in macrophages, and for intestinal iron absorption. The preproprotein is post-translationally cleaved into mature peptides of 20, 22 and 25 amino acids, and these active peptides are rich in cysteines, which form intramolecular bonds that stabilize their beta-sheet structures. These peptides exhibit antimicrobial activity. Mutations in this gene cause hemochromatosis type 2B, also known as juvenile hemochromatosis, a disease caused by severe iron overload that results in cardiomyopathy, cirrhosis, and endocrine failure. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
HAMP: Seems to act as a signaling molecule involved in the maintenance of iron homeostasis. Seems to be required in conjunction with HFE to regulate both intestinal iron absorption and iron storage in macrophages. Defects in HAMP are the cause of hemochromatosis type 2B (HFE2B); also known as juvenile hemochromatosis (JH). HFE2B is a disorder of iron metabolism with excess deposition of iron in the tissues, bronze skin pigmentation, hepatic cirrhosis, arthropathy and diabetes. The most common symptoms of hemochromatosis type 2 at presentation are hypogonadism and cardiomyopathy. Belongs to the hepcidin family. Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.1. Cellular Component: apical cortex; extracellular region. Molecular Function: hormone activity. Biological Process: cellular iron ion homeostasis; killing of cells of another organism; defense response to bacterium; immune response; defense response to fungus. Disease: Hemochromatosis, Type 2b
