reactivity :
Rat
specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of VEGFB. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between VEGFB and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between VEGFB and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
storage stability :
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, Cell Culture Supernatants, body fluid and tissue homogenate. Assay Type: Competitive. Sensitivity: 0.1 ng/mL.
other info2 :
Intended Uses: This VEGFB ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Rat VEGFB. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!

products description :
Principle of the Assay: VEGFB ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-VEGFB antibody and an VEGFB-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with VEGFB-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the VEGFB concentration since VEGFB from samples and VEGFB-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-VEGFB antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by VEGFB from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind VEGFB-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The VEGFB concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor)/VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) family. The VEGF family members regulate the formation of blood vessels and are involved in endothelial cell physiology. This member is a ligand for VEGFR-1 (vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1) and NRP-1 (neuropilin-1). Studies in mice showed that this gene was co-expressed with nuclear-encoded mitochondrial genes and the encoded protein specifically controlled endothelial uptake of fatty acids. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]
uniprot summary :
VEGFB: Growth factor for endothelial cells. VEGF-B167 binds heparin and neuropilin-1 whereas the binding to neuropilin-1 of VEGF-B186 is regulated by proteolysis. Homodimer; disulfide-linked. Can also form heterodimer with VEGF. Expressed in all tissues except liver. Highest levels found in heart, skeletal muscle and pancreas. Belongs to the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Cytokine; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Secreted; Cell cycle regulation; Secreted, signal peptide. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q13. Cellular Component: extracellular space; membrane; extracellular region. Molecular Function: heparin binding; protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; growth factor activity; protein heterodimerization activity; vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 binding; chemoattractant activity. Biological Process: response to drug; platelet activation; protein amino acid O-linked glycosylation; positive regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor signaling pathway; positive regulation of vascular permeability; induction of positive chemotaxis; positive regulation of protein kinase B signaling cascade; positive regulation of peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation; platelet degranulation; positive chemotaxis; positive regulation of cell division; positive regulation of endothelial cell proliferation; angiogenesis; negative regulation of neuron apoptosis; blood coagulation; vascular endothelial growth factor receptor signaling pathway; negative regulation of apoptosis; cardiac muscle contraction
