specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of EP-4. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between EP-4 and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between EP-4 and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
storage stability :
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, Cell Culture Supernatants, body fluid and tissue homogenate. Assay Type: Competitive. Sensitivity: 1.0 pmol/ml.
other info2 :
Intended Uses: This EP-4 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Human EP-4. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!
products description :
Principle of the assay: EP-4 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-EP-4 antibody and an EP-4-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with EP-4-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the EP-4 concentration since EP-4 from samples and EP-4-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-EP-4 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by EP-4 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind EP-4-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The EP-4 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a protein that is a member of the WFDC domain family. The WFDC domain, or WAP Signature motif, contains eight cysteines forming four disulfide bonds at the core of the protein, and functions as a protease inhibitor in many family members. This gene is expressed in pulmonary epithelial cells, and was also found to be expressed in some ovarian cancers. The encoded protein is a small secretory protein, which may be involved in sperm maturation. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
