products description :
Principle of the Assay: PLGF ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-PLGF antibody and an PLGF-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with PLGF-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the PLGF concentration since PLGF from samples and PLGF-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-PLGF antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by PLGF from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind PLGF-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The PLGF concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

uniprot summary :
PGF: Growth factor active in angiogenesis and endothelial cell growth, stimulating their proliferation and migration. It binds to the receptor FLT1/VEGFR-1. Isoform PlGF-2 binds NRP1/neuropilin-1 and NRP2/neuropilin-2 in a heparin-dependent manner. Also promotes cell tumor growth. Belongs to the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted. Cellular Component: extracellular space; membrane; extracellular region. Molecular Function: protein homodimerization activity; growth factor activity; protein heterodimerization activity. Biological Process: positive regulation of angiogenesis; ureteric bud branching; multicellular organismal development; positive regulation of cell division; positive regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of endothelial cell proliferation; sprouting angiogenesis; angiogenesis; cell differentiation
