specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of SSB. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between SSB and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between SSB and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
storage stability :
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C.

products description :
Intended Uses: This SSB ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Mouse SSB. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!. Principle of the Assay: SSB ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-SSB antibody and an SSB-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with SSB-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the SSB concentration since SSB from samples and SSB-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-SSB antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by SSB from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind SSB-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The SSB concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

ncbi summary :
The hormone somatostatin has active 14 aa and 28 aa forms that are produced by alternate cleavage of the single preproprotein encoded by this gene. Somatostatin is expressed throughout the body and inhibits the release of numerous secondary hormones by binding to high-affinity G-protein-coupled somatostatin receptors. This hormone is an important regulator of the endocrine system through its interactions with pituitary growth hormone, thyroid stimulating hormone, and most hormones of the gastrointestinal tract. Somatostatin also affects rates of neurotransmission in the central nervous system and proliferation of both normal and tumorigenic cells. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
