products description :
For samples: Serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, body fluid and tissue homogenate . INTENDED USE This CXCL16 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Guinea pig CXCL16. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications! . PRINCIPLE OF THE ASSAY CXCL16 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-CXCL16 antibody and an CXCL16-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with CXCL16-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the CXCL16 concentration since CXCL16 from samples and CXCL16-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-CXCL16 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by CXCL16 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind CXCL16-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The CXCL16 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

uniprot summary :
CXCL16: Acts as a scavenger receptor on macrophages, which specifically binds to OxLDL (oxidized low density lipoprotein), suggesting that it may be involved in pathophysiology such as atherogenesis. Induces a strong chemotactic response. Induces calcium mobilization. Binds to CXCR6/Bonzo. Belongs to the intercrine alpha (chemokine CxC) family. Protein type: Membrane protein, integral. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17p13. Cellular Component: extracellular space; membrane; extracellular region; plasma membrane; integral to membrane. Molecular Function: low-density lipoprotein receptor activity; chemokine activity; scavenger receptor activity. Biological Process: receptor-mediated endocytosis; response to cytokine stimulus; chemotaxis; positive regulation of cell growth; positive regulation of cell migration
