reactivity :
Rat
specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of NPY. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between NPY and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between NPY and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
storage stability :
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, Cell Culture Supernatants, body fluid and tissue homogenate. Assay Type: Competitive. Sensitivity: 1.0 pg/mL.
other info2 :
Intended Uses: This NPY ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Rat NPY. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!

products description :
. Principle of the assay: NPY ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-NPY antibody and an NPY-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with NPY-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the NPY concentration since NPY from samples and NPY-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-NPY antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by NPY from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind NPY-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The NPY concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a neuropeptide that is widely expressed in the central nervous system and influences many physiological processes, including cortical excitability, stress response, food intake, circadian rhythms, and cardiovascular function. The neuropeptide functions through G protein-coupled receptors to inhibit adenylyl cyclase, activate mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), regulate intracellular calcium levels, and activate potassium channels. A polymorphism in this gene resulting in a change of leucine 7 to proline in the signal peptide is associated with elevated cholesterol levels, higher alcohol consumption, and may be a risk factor for various metabolic and cardiovascular diseases.
