specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of LTF. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between LTF and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between LTF and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
storage stability :
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C.

products description :
Intended Uses: This LTF ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Porcine LTF. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!. Principle of the Assay: LTF ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-LTF antibody and an LTF-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with LTF-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the LTF concentration since LTF from samples and LTF-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-LTF antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by LTF from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind LTF-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The LTF concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

ncbi summary :
This gene is a member of the transferrin family of genes and its protein product is found in the secondary granules of neutrophils. The protein is a major iron-binding protein in milk and body secretions with an antimicrobial activity, making it an important component of the non-specific immune system. The protein demonstrates a broad spectrum of properties, including regulation of iron homeostasis, host defense against a broad range of microbial infections, anti-inflammatory activity, regulation of cellular growth and differentiation and protection against cancer development and metastasis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2010]
uniprot summary :
