specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of PREP. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between PREP and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between PREP and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
storage stability :
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C.

products description :
Intended Uses: This PREP ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Human PREP. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!. Principle of the Assay: PREP ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-PREP antibody and an PREP-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with PREP-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the PREP concentration since PREP from samples and PREP-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-PREP antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by PREP from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind PREP-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The PREP concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is a cytosolic prolyl endopeptidase that cleaves peptide bonds on the C-terminal side of prolyl residues within peptides that are up to approximately 30 amino acids long. Prolyl endopeptidases have been reported to be involved in the maturation and degradation of peptide hormones and neuropeptides. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
