specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of GAL3. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between GAL3 and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between GAL3 and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
storage stability :
Store all reagents at 2-8°C.

products description :
Intended Uses: This GAL3 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Monkey GAL3. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or diagnostic applications!. Principle of the Assay: GAL3 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing an anti-GAL3 antibody and an GAL3-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with GAL3-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the GAL3 concentration since GAL3 from samples and GAL3-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-GAL3 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by GAL3 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind GAL3-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The GAL3 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the galectin family of carbohydrate binding proteins. Members of this protein family have an affinity for beta-galactosides. The encoded protein is characterized by an N-terminal proline-rich tandem repeat domain and a single C-terminal carbohydrate recognition domain. This protein can self-associate through the N-terminal domain allowing it to bind to multivalent saccharide ligands. This protein localizes to the extracellular matrix, the cytoplasm and the nucleus. This protein plays a role in numerous cellular functions including apoptosis, innate immunity, cell adhesion and T-cell regulation. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Apr 2010]
