This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of pig LF/LTF. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between pig LF/LTF and analogues was observed.

Typical Testing Data/Standard Curve (for reference only)

Samples: Serum, plasma, breast milk. Detection Range: 0.156 ug/ml -10 ug/mL. Sensitivity: <0.078 µg/mL

Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to LF/LTF. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated LF/LTF. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with HRP-conjugated LF/LTF and LF/LTF in samples. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of LF/LTF in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

This gene is a member of the transferrin family of genes and its protein product is found in the secondary granules of neutrophils. The protein is a major iron-binding protein in milk and body secretions with an antimicrobial activity, making it an important component of the non-specific immune system. The protein demonstrates a broad spectrum of properties, including regulation of iron homeostasis, host defense against a broad range of microbial infections, anti-inflammatory activity, regulation of cellular growth and differentiation and protection against cancer development and metastasis. Antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal and antiparasitic activity has been found for this protein and its peptides. Function: Transferrins are iron binding transport proteins which can bind two Fe3+ ions in association with the binding of an anion, usually bicarbonate. Catalytic activity: Preferential at -Arg-Ser-Arg-Arg- - and -Arg-Arg-Ser-Arg- -, and of Z-Phe-Arg- -aminomethylcoumarin.
