Samples: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates. Assay Type: Competitive. Detection Range: 1.25 ng/ml-20 ng/ml. Sensitivity: The minimum detectable dose of fish SOD is typically less than 0.625 ng/ml. The sensitivity of this assay, or Lower Limit of Detection (LLD) was defined as the lowest fish SOD concentration that could be differentiated from zero. It was determined the mean O.D value of 20 replicates of the zero standard added by their three standard deviations.

Principle of the assay: This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to SOD. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated SOD. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with HRP-conjugated SOD and SOD in samples. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of SOD in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
