specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of human Lp-PLA2. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between human Lp-PLA2 and analogues was observed.
storage stability :
Unopened test kits should be stored at 2 to 8 degree C upon receipt. Please refer to pdf manual for further storage instructions.

Samples: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates. Assay Type: Sandwich. Detection Range: 1.56 ng/ml -100 ng/ml. Sensitivity: 0.39 ng/ml.
other info2 :
Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
products description :
Principle of the Assay This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for Lp-PLA2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any Lp-PLA2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for Lp-PLA2 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Lp-PLA2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is a secreted enzyme that catalyzes the degradation of platelet-activating factor to biologically inactive products. Defects in this gene are a cause of platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase deficiency. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Dec 2009]
uniprot summary :
Function: Modulates the action of platelet-activating factor (PAF) by hydrolyzing the sn-2 ester bond to yield the biologically inactive lyso-PAF. Has a specificity for substrates with a short residue at the sn-2 position. It is inactive against long-chain phospholipids. Catalytic activity: 1-alkyl-2-acetyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine + H2O = 1-alkyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine + acetate.
