specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of human HB-beta. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between human HB-beta and analogues was observed.
storage stability :
Unopened test kits should be stored at 2 to 8 degree C upon receipt. Please refer to pdf manual for further storage instructions.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, lysate for RBC. Assay Type: Competitive. Detection Range: 7.8 ng/ml -500 ng/ml. Sensitivity: The minimum detectable dose of human HB-beta is typically less than 3.9 ng/ml. The sensitivity of this assay, or Lower Limit of Detection (LLD) was defined as the lowest human HB-beta concentration that could be differentiated from zero. It was determined the mean O.D value of 20 replicates of the zero standard added by their three standard deviations.
other info2 :
Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
products description :
Principle of the assay: This assay employs the direct competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for HB-beta has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells with biotin-conjugated HB-beta. A competitive inhibition reaction is launched between HB-beta (Standards or samples) and biotin-conjugated HB-beta with the pre-coated HB-beta antibody. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in opposite to the amount of HB-beta bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
The alpha (HBA) and beta (HBB) loci determine the structure of the 2 types of polypeptide chains in adult hemoglobin, Hb A. The normal adult hemoglobin tetramer consists of two alpha chains and two beta chains. Mutant beta globin causes sickle cell anemia. Absence of beta chain causes beta-zero-thalassemia. Reduced amounts of detectable beta globin causes beta-plus-thalassemia. The order of the genes in the beta-globin cluster is 5'-epsilon -- gamma-G -- gamma-A -- delta -- beta--3'.
