This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of bovine LH. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between bovine LH and analogues was observed.

Samples: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates. Assay Type: Competitive. Detection Range: 1.25 mIU/ml -100 mIU/ml. Sensitivity: The minimum detectable dose of bovine LH is typically less than 1.56 mIU/ml. The sensitivity of this assay, or Lower Limit of Detection (LLD) was defined as the lowest bovine LH concentration that could be differentiated from zero. It was determined the mean O.D value of 20 replicates of the zero standard added by their three standard deviations.

Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<15%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<15%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.

Principle of the assay: This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with goat-anti-rabbit antibody. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with an antibody specific for LH and Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated LH. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with HRP labeled LH and unlabeled LH with the antibody. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of LH in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

This gene encodes the receptor for both luteinizing hormone and choriogonadotropin. This receptor belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family, and its activity is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylate cyclase. Mutations in this gene result in disorders of male secondary sexual character development, including familial male precocious puberty, also known as testotoxicosis, hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, Leydig cell adenoma with precocious puberty, and male pseudohermaphtoditism with Leydig cell hypoplasia.
