other info1 :
Species: Human. Biological Activity: Determined by its ability to activate STAT phosphorylation in an ISRE Luciferase Reporter Assay using human colon carcinoma COLO205 cells. The expected ED 50 is 0.2-0.5 ng/ml. Authenticity: Verified by N-terminal and Mass Spectrometry analyses (when applicable). Endotoxin level: <0.1 ng/ug of protein (<1EU/ug). Protein Content: Verified by UV Spectroscopy and/or SDS-PAGE gel. Reconstitution: Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.5-1.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, it is recommended to further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein (example 0.1% BSA) and store in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.
products description :
IFN lambda-1, -2, and -3 (also known as IL-29, IL-28A and IL-28B respectively) are distantly related to the IL-10 family and Interferons. All three IFN-lambdas use a distinct receptor system composed of an IFN-lambdaR1 subunit (also called CRF2-12) and IL-10R2 subunit (also called CRF2-14). Signaling through this receptor system induces antiviral defense similar but distinct than the type I Interferons. (Kotenko, SV. et al. Nat Immunology 2003 [1] p. 69-77). Recombinant human IFN-lambda 1 is a 19.8 kDa protein containing 178 amino acid residues.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a cytokine distantly related to type I interferons and the IL-10 family. This gene, interleukin 28A (IL28A), and interleukin 28B (IL28B) are three closely related cytokine genes that form a cytokine gene cluster on a chromosomal region mapped to 19q13. Expression of the cytokines encoded by the three genes can be induced by viral infection. All three cytokines have been shown to interact with a heterodimeric class II cytokine receptor that consists of interleukin 10 receptor, beta (IL10RB) and interleukin 28 receptor, alpha (IL28RA). [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
IL29: Cytokine with immunomodulatory activity. May play a role in antiviral immunity. Up-regulates MHC class I antigen expression. Ligand for the heterodimeric class II cytokine receptor composed of IL10RB and IL28RA. The ligand/receptor complex seems to signal through the Jak-STAT pathway. Belongs to the IL-28/IL-29 family. Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Cytokine; Cell cycle regulation; Secreted. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.13. Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region; interleukin-28 receptor complex. Molecular Function: cytokine activity; interleukin-28 receptor binding; receptor binding. Biological Process: positive regulation of immune response; positive regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; positive regulation of JAK-STAT cascade; JAK-STAT cascade; negative regulation of T cell differentiation; negative regulation of cell proliferation; negative regulation of interleukin-13 production; positive regulation of interferon-gamma production; positive regulation of tyrosine phosphorylation of STAT protein; negative regulation of T-helper 2 type immune response; negative regulation of interleukin-5 production; positive regulation of MHC class I biosynthetic process; negative regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; negative regulation of memory T cell differentiation; defense response to virus
