isotype :
Mouse IgG1 kappa
specificity :
The beta 2-microglobulin subunit (Mr ~ 14 kDa) of avian MHC Class I molecules. Like their mammalian counterparts, avian MHC Class I molecules (also known as B-F antigens) consist of a highly polymorphic alpha -chain (Mr ~ 44 kDa) non-covalently bound to the invariant beta 2-microglobulin subunit (Mr ~ 14 kDa). MHC Class I molecules are expressed on most nucleated cells where they present endogenously synthesized antigenic peptides to CD8+ T lymphocytes, which are usually cytotoxic T cells.1-2 MAb F21-21 also reacts with turkey beta 2-microglobulin.3
form :
Purified (UNLB) Antibody
storage stability :
The purified (UNLB) antibody is supplied as 0.5 mg of purified immunoglobulin in 1.0 mL of 100 mM borate buffered saline, pH 8.2. No preservatives or amine-containing buffer salts added. Store at 2- 8 degree C. The fluorescein (FITC) conjugate is supplied as 0.5 mg in 1.0 mL of PBS/NaN3. Store at 2-8 degree C. The biotin (BIOT) conjugate is supplied as 0.5 mg in 1.0 mL of PBS/NaN3. Store at 2-8 degree C. The R-phycoerythrin (R-PE) conjugate is supplied as 0.1 mg in 1.0 mL of PBS/NaN3 and a stabilizing agent. Store at 2-8 degree C. Do not freeze! . Protect conjugated forms from light. Each reagent is stable for the period shown on the bottle label if stored as directed.
tested application :
Flow Cytometry; Immunohistochemistry; Immunoprecipitation; Western Blot; Immunoaffinity Chromatography
app notes :
Flow Cytometry Suggested Dilution: <= 1 ug/10^6 cells
other info2 :
Characterization: To ensure optimal performance, each batch of monoclonal antibody is tested by flow cytometry to conform to characteristics of a standard reference reagent. Representative flow data are included on page 2 of this product insert.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a serum protein found in association with the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I heavy chain on the surface of nearly all nucleated cells. The protein has a predominantly beta-pleated sheet structure that can form amyloid fibrils in some pathological conditions. A mutation in this gene has been shown to result in hypercatabolic hypoproteinemia.
uniprot summary :
Function: Component of the class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC). Involved in the presentation of peptide antigens to the immune system. Subunit structure: Heterodimer of an alpha chain and a beta chain. Beta-2-microglobulin is the beta-chain of major histocompatibility complex class I molecules. Polymers of beta 2-microglobulin can be found in tissues from patients on long-term hemodialysis. Ref.14. Subcellular location: Secreted. Note: Detected in serum and urine. Ref.16 Ref.17. Post-translational modification: Glycation of Ile-21 is observed in long-term hemodialysis patients. Involvement in disease: Defects in B2M are the cause of hypercatabolic hypoproteinemia (HYCATHYP) [. MIM:241600]. Affected individuals show marked reduction in serum concentrations of immunoglobulin and albumin, probably due to rapid degradation. Ref.33Note=Beta-2-microglobulin may adopt the fibrillar configuration of amyloid in certain pathologic states. The capacity to assemble into amyloid fibrils is concentration dependent. Persistently high beta(2)-microglobulin serum levels lead to amyloidosis in patients on long-term hemodialysis. Ref.13 Ref.14 Ref.15 Ref.16 Ref.17 Ref.25 Ref.26 Ref.27 Ref.28 Ref.29 Ref.30 Ref.31 Ref.32. Sequence similarities: Belongs to the beta-2-microglobulin family.Contains 1 Ig-like C1-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain.
