Mouse Interleukin-6 (IL-6)1-4 This is a non-neutralizing antibody.
form :
Biotin (BIOT) Conjugate
storage stability :
The purified (UNLB) antibody is supplied as 0.5 mg purified immunoglobulin in 1.0 mL of 100 mM borate buffered saline, pH 8.2. No preservatives or amine-containing buffer salts added. Store at 2- 8 degree C. The biotin (BIOT) conjugate is supplied as 0.5 mg labeled antibody in 1.0 mL of PBS/NaN3. Store at 2-8 degree C. Reagents are stable for the period shown on the label if stored as directed.
tested application :
ELISA; Western Blot
app notes :
Research Application(s): ELISA Detection: MP5-32C11 monoclonal antibody is useful as a detection antibody in a sandwich ELISA for quantifying mouse IL-6 protein levels.1,2,4 Purified MP5-20F3 antibody should be paired with biotinylated as the capture antibody, with purified recombinant mouse IL-6 as the standard. Western Blotting: The purified MP5-32C11 antibody is also useful for Western blotting applications. For Western blotting, a concentration of 1-5 ug/mL (in conjunction with AP-labeled Goat Anti-Rat-Ig) has been found to enable detection of <= 100 ng/lane of recombinant mouse IL-6 under reducing conditions. Since applications vary, each investigator should determine the optimal concentration appropriate for individual applications.
other info1 :
Immunogen: COS-7-expressed recombinant mouse IL-6
other info2 :
Characterization: To ensure acceptable performance, each batch of product is tested in a sandwich ELISA to conform to characteristics of a standard reference reagent.

ncbi summary :
a cytokine involved in development and possibly in neurodegenerative processes [RGD]
uniprot summary :
Function: Cytokine with a wide variety of biological functions. It is a potent inducer of the acute phase response. Plays an essential role in the final differentiation of B-cells into Ig-secreting cells Involved in lymphocyte and monocyte differentiation. It induces myeloma and plasmacytoma growth and induces nerve cells differentiation Acts on B-cells, T-cells, hepatocytes, hematopoeitic progenitor cells and cells of the CNS. Also acts as a myokine. It is discharged into the bloodstream after muscle contraction and acts to increase the breakdown of fats and to improve insulin resistance. Subcellular location: Secreted. Sequence similarities: Belongs to the IL-6 superfamily.
