Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degree C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degree C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
tested application :
ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB)
app notes :
Suitable for use in Enzyme conjugates and complexes, Southern Blots, DNA and RNA analysis, Western Blots and Protein Purification. Other applications not tested.
other info1 :
CAS Number: 9013-20-1. Specific Activity: >= 14.0u/mg protein. 15.0u/mg Protein (HABA). 19.9u/mg Protein (biotin titration). Country of Origin: USA. Extinction Coefficient: 32. [1%, 280 nm] (Suter et al, 1988)
other info2 :
Protein Content: supplied as lyophilized powder in sodium chloride. Dissociation Constant for Biotin: ~10e-15M. ~0.9mg protein/mg lyophilized. Reconstitution: Reconstitute in sterile ddH2O or 1mM sodium bicarbonate buffer, pH 9, at twice the desired final protein concentration. The protein may then be diluted with an equal volume of 2X buffer to produce a stock solution. Upon standing some turbidity may develop in certain buffers. Centrifugation will usually yield a clear solution with negligible loss of streptavidin.

products description :
Streptavidin is a biotin-binding protein which binds 4 moles of biotin per mole of protein under high affinity(Kd~10-15). Due to the lack of carbonate side chains present on avidin and a neutral isoelectric point, streptavidin maintains less non-specific binding tan avidin.
