products description :
Uricase is very important for the determination of uric acid in biological fluids. Not only is the reaction specific, it may be monitored at 292nm, 340nm or colorimetrically by coupled chromogenic response. Non-enzymatic methods are interfered with by turbidity or the presence of aspirin, ascorbic acid, glutathione, paracetanol and many antibiotics.

catalyzes the hydrolysis of uric acid to allantoin in purine degradation [RGD]
uniprot summary :
uricase: Catalyzes the oxidation of uric acid to 5- hydroxyisourate, which is further processed to form (S)-allantoin. Belongs to the uricase family. Protein type: EC 1.7.3.3; Oxidoreductase; Mitochondrial. Cellular Component: peroxisomal matrix; mitochondrion; peroxisome. Molecular Function: urate oxidase activity. Biological Process: urate catabolic process; purine base catabolic process
