products description :
Vancomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. The main target of this antibiotic is the D-alanyl-D-alanine terminal dipeptide of peptidoglycan precursors, used by bacteria for constructing their cell walls. This prevents the reaction used to link peptidoglycan precursors together from taking place. Vancomycin binds with the substrate, not the enzyme: this is in contrast to the way penicillin inhibits peptidoglycan synthesis.

ncbi summary :
ydcF and ycbC (COG1434) and sanA and yjgQ (COG2949) are four members of the DUF218 superfamily (PF02698). [More information is available at EcoGene: EG12025]. sanA encodes an inner membrane protein which is likely to be involved in cell envelope barrier functions. [More information is available at EcoCyc: EG12025].
uniprot summary :
Function: Participates in the barrier function of the cell envelope. Subcellular location: Cell inner membrane; Single-pass membrane protein.
