Ebola virus causes a severe hemorrhagic fever with 50-90% mortality. Except nucleocapsid and glycoprotein, VP40 is another ebola structural protein, VP40 is a mtrix protein critical for virion assembly as well as budding from infected cell. Research found that VP40 is one of target recognized by specific ebola antibodies from ebola virus infected patients. A full length of Zaire ebola VP40 containing 325 amino acids is expressed and purified from E Coli, a 6 x His tag is attached to its C terminus.
