products description :
In the nervous system, much of the fast-excitatory transmission is sent by AMPA receptors, tetrameric ionotropic receptors that may be composed of four types of glutamate receptor subunits, formerly known as GluR1-4, and now often abbreviated as GluA1-4. The composition of receptor subunits determines the trafficking of the AMPA receptor in and out of the synapse, which can in turn cause changes in synaptic plasticity, including regulation of long term potentiation (LTP) and long term depression (LTD). Phosphorylation of GluA2 at serine 880 has been shown to disrupt interactions with the glutamate receptor interacting protein (GRIP), thus regulating receptor stability at the synapse.
