reactivity :
Inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to plasma proteins, since homologous proteins of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. Cross-reactivity of this antiserum has not been tested in detail.
specificity :
In bidimensional immunoelectrophoresis a single precipitin line is obtained and shows a reaction of full identity with the purified immunogen. The antiserum does not react with any other protein component of human serum or plasma.
form :
Delipidated, heat inactivated, lyophilized, stable whole serum.
storage stability :
Storage / shelf life :. Lyophilized at +4 degree C = at least 10 years . reconstituted at or below -20 degree C = 3-5 years . reconstituted at +4 degree C = 7 days. Handling: The lyophilized antiserum is shipped at ambient temperature and may be stored at +4 degree C; prolonged . storage at or below -20 degree C . Reconstitute the lyophilized antiserum by adding 1 ml sterile distilled water. Dilutions may be prepared by adding phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2). Repeated thawing and freezing should be avoided. If a slight precipitation occurs upon storage, this should be removed by centrifugation. It will not affect the performance of the antiserum. Diluted antiserum should be stored at +4 degree C, not refrozen, and preferably used the same day. Caution: This antiserum should be handled by qualified persons only and appropriate precautions should be taken in its handling and disposal, and of all associated materials. For in vitro research purposes only.
tested application :
Immunoprecipitation (IP)
other info1 :
Biological origin: Rabbit . Preservative : No preservative added. Immunogen : Beta-2 glycoprotein 1 has a molecular weight of 40,000. The mean concentration in adult serum is about 200 I-1g/ml. Freund's complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure. Adsorption : Immunoaffinity adsorbed using insolubilized antigens as required, to eliminate antibodies reacting with other human serum proteins. The use of insolubilized adsorption antigens prevents the presence of excess adsorbent protein or immune complexes in the antiserum. Protein concentration : Total protein and IgG concentrations in the antiserum are comparable to those of normal pooled rabbit serum. No foreign proteins added. Antibody titre : Measured by quantitative precipitin analysis. The amount of beta2 glycoprotein 1 precipitated by 1ml antiserum is approximately 0.2 mg. Precipitin titre not less than 1:64 when tested against normal human serum in agar-block immunodiffusion titration.
other info2 :
Directions for use: In immunoelectrophoresis use 2 1-11 human plasma or equivalent against 120 1-11 antiserum. In double radial immunodiffusion use a rosette arrangement with 10 ul antiserum in 3 mm diameter center well and 2 ul plasma samples (neat and serially diluted) in 2 mm diameter peripheral wells. In electroimmunodiffusion use 1 percent antiserum in the gel.
products categories :
Antisera
products description :
In precipitating techniques as immunoelectrophoresis and single and double radial immunodiffusion (Mancini, Ouchterlony) and electroimmunodiffusion (Laurell) to identify the presence of beta-2 glycoprotein 1 or to determine its concentration. The presence of non-precipitating antibodies has not been assayed. This does not exclude the use of the antiserum in non-precipitating antibody-binding techniques as ELISA and Western blotting if proper controls are included.

ncbi summary :
Apolipoprotein H has been implicated in a variety of physiologic pathways including lipoprotein metabolism, coagulation, and the production of antiphospholipid autoantibodies. APOH may be a required cofactor for anionic phospholipid binding by the antiphospholipid autoantibodies found in sera of many patients with lupus and primary antiphospholipid syndrome, but it does not seem to be required for the reactivity of antiphospholipid autoantibodies associated with infections. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
APOH: Binds to various kinds of negatively charged substances such as heparin, phospholipids, and dextran sulfate. May prevent activation of the intrinsic blood coagulation cascade by binding to phospholipids on the surface of damaged cells. Protein type: Lipid-binding; Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q24.2. Cellular Component: extracellular matrix; extracellular space; chylomicron; cell surface. Molecular Function: heparin binding; identical protein binding; protein binding; phospholipid binding; glycoprotein binding; lipid binding. Biological Process: negative regulation of myeloid cell apoptosis; negative regulation of angiogenesis; triacylglycerol metabolic process; negative regulation of fibrinolysis; positive regulation of blood coagulation; negative regulation of endothelial cell proliferation; negative regulation of blood coagulation; positive regulation of lipoprotein lipase activity; triacylglycerol transport; blood coagulation, intrinsic pathway; plasminogen activation; regulation of fibrinolysis
