app notes :
The Goat anti-Rat A2M gives a single band against acute phase rat serum by IEP and gel diffusion analysis. This product is suitable for ELISA and blotting applications.
other info2 :
Preservative: 0.1% sodium azide. Procedure: Goats were immunized with rat Alpha 2-Macroglobulin isolated from acute phase rat serum. The resulting antiserum was solid phase absorbed with rat serum lacking alpha 2- macroglobulin until it gave a single band with serum containing the acute phase protein. The specific antibodies were then immunoaffinity purified off an antigen containing immunoabsorbant.
products categories :
Rat Protein
products description :
Goats were immunized with rat Alpha 2-Macroglobulin (A2M). The resulting antiserum was passed over an antigen containing immunoabsorbant from which the anti-rat A2M was immunoaffinity purified.

uniprot summary :
PZP: Is able to inhibit all four classes of proteinases by a unique trapping mechanism. This protein has a peptide stretch, called the bait region which contains specific cleavage sites for different proteinases. When a proteinase cleaves the bait region, a conformational change is induced in the protein which traps the proteinase. The entrapped enzyme remains active against low molecular weight substrates (activity against high molecular weight substrates is greatly reduced). Following cleavage in the bait region a thioester bond is hydrolyzed and mediates the covalent binding of the protein to the proteinase. Belongs to the protease inhibitor I39 (alpha-2- macroglobulin) family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide. Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region. Molecular Function: serine-type endopeptidase inhibitor activity; protease inhibitor activity; endopeptidase inhibitor activity; protein complex binding. Biological Process: negative regulation of peptidase activity; embryo implantation
