Host Note: Optimized DNA sequence encoding extracellular domain of human IL-13 receptor alpha2 including an IgG1 human Fc region was expressed in HEK293 cells. Biological Activity: Measured by its ability to bind recombinant human Interleukin-13 at a concentration range of 0.3-8ng/ml. Presentation: Recombinant IL-13 receptor alpha 2 is supplied as lyophilized 0.2 um filtered 50mM Tris, 100mM glycine solution, pH 7.5 and 5% trehalose. Reconstitution: A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1mg/mL. It is recommended to add 0.1% HSA or BSA for long term storage.
other info2 :
Endotoxin: Endotoxin content was assayed using a LAL gel clot method. Endotoxin level was found to be less than 0.1 ng/ug (1EU/ug). Molecular Weight Note: Recombinant IL-13RA2 is a homodimer protein consisting of 563 amino acid residue subunits, due to glycosylation migrates as an approximately 130kDa protein on SDS-PAGE.

products description :
The biological activity of IL-13 is regulated via the IL-13R type I and type II. The type I receptor is a heterodimer of the IL-4R chain (IL-4R ) and IL-13R 1, and ligand-receptor interactions induce phosphorylation of the IL- 4R and subsequent activation of the signal transducers and activators of transcription (STAT) -6 signaling pathway. This pathway appears to be the primary pathway for IL-13- induced signaling in nonhematopoietic cells. The type II receptor is composed of IL-13R 1 and IL-13R 2. IL-13R 2 binds IL-13 with high affinity and is proposed to act as a decoy receptor that limits the activity of IL-13. Consistent with this, mice deficient in IL-13R 2 demonstrate exaggerated IL- 13-induced pathologies. IL- 13R 2 possesses a short cytoplasmic tail and is without signal motifs; however, there have been a number of reports to suggest IL-13 signals through this chain, possibly via a STAT6- independent, AP-1-dependent manner to induce activation of the Tgf 1 promoter via the IL-13 type II receptor.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is closely related to Il13RA1, a subuint of the interleukin 13 receptor complex. This protein binds IL13 with high affinity, but lacks cytoplasmic domain, and does not appear to function as a signal mediator. It is reported to play a role in the internalization of IL13. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
IL13RA2: a type I membrane protein that binds with high affinity to interleukin-13 (IL13), but not to interleukin-4 (IL4). Lacks a cytoplasmic domain, and does not appear to function as a signal mediator. It is reported to play a role in the internalization of IL13. A member of the Cancer-Testis Antigen (CTA) superfamily. CTAs may play roles in embryonal development and tumor transformation or aspects of tumor progression. CTAs were once thought to be silenced in most normal adult tissues, with limited expression in fetal, placental, testis, and ovarian cells. These proteins are now known to be aberrantly expressed in various cancers and many are capable of eliciting humoral and cellular immune responses. The WSXWS motif appears to be necessary for proper protein folding and thereby efficient intracellular transport and cell-surface receptor binding. The box 1 motif is required for JAK interaction and/or activation. Often overexpressed in brain tumors. A potential vaccine targets for immunotherapy of glioma. Note: This description may include information from RefSeq and UniProtKB. Protein type: Cancer Testis Antigen (CTA); Membrane protein, integral; Receptor, cytokine. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: Xq23. Cellular Component: extracellular space; integral to membrane. Molecular Function: hematopoietin/interferon-class (D200-domain) cytokine receptor activity; signal transducer activity. Biological Process: cytokine and chemokine mediated signaling pathway; signal transduction
