form :
Recombinant mouse aFGF was lyophilized from a 0.2 um filtered PBS solution.
storage stability :
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20 degree C. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2 degree - 8 degree C for one month, or at -20 degree C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
other info1 :
Domain: HBGF/IL1. Host Note: Optimized DNA sequence encoding Mouse acidic FGF mature chain was expressed in Escherichia Coli.
other info2 :
Endotoxin: Endotoxin content was assayed using a LAL gel clot method. Endotoxin level was found to be less than 0.1 ng/ug (1EU/ug). Reconstitution: A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers. Molecular Weight Note: Native Mouse aFGF, generated by the proteolytic removal of the signal peptide. and propeptide, the moleculte has a calculated mass of 16 kDa. Recombinant FGF acidic is a disulfide-linked monomer protein consisting of 141 amino acids and migrates as an approximately 16 kDa protein under reducing and non-reducing conditions.

products description :
aFGF and bFGF display 55 % homology which is limited, however, to a few functional domains. The structure of aFGF, revealed by X-ray crystallography, shows a similar folding structure as IL1. Because aFGF binds to the same receptor as bFGF, aFGF displays more or less the same spectrum of activities. It is, however, generally less active than bFGF in similar assays. FGF receptors are encoded by a gene family consisting of at least four receptor tyrosine kinases that transduce signals important in a variety of developmental and physiological processes related to cell growth and differentiation.

uniprot summary :
Function: Plays an important role in the regulation of cell survival, cell division, angiogenesis, cell differentiation and cell migration. Functions as potent mitogen in vitro . By similarity. Subunit structure: Monomer. Homodimer. Interacts with FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3 and FGFR4. Affinity between fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) and their receptors is increased by heparan sulfate glycosaminoglycans that function as coreceptors. Found in a complex with FGFBP1, FGF1 and FGF2. Interacts with FGFBP1. Part of a Cu2+-dependent multiprotein aggregate containing FGF1, S100A13 and SYT1. Interacts with SYT1. Interacts with S100A13 . By similarity. Interacts with LRRC59 . By similarity. Interacts with CSNKA, CSNKB and FIBP . By similarity. While binding with LRRC59, CSNKA and FIBP seem mutually exclusive, CSNKB and FIBP may cooperatively interact with FGF1 . By similarity. Subcellular location: Secreted. Cytoplasm . By similarity. Cytoplasm cell cortex . By similarity. Cytoplasm cytosol . By similarity. Nucleus . By similarity. Note: Lacks a cleavable signal sequence. Within the cytoplasm, it is transported to the cell membrane and then secreted by a non-classical pathway that requires Cu2+ ions and S100A13. Secreted in a complex with SYT1. Binding of exogenous FGF1 to FGFR facilitates endocytosis followed by translocation of FGF1 across endosomal membrane into the cytosol. Nuclear import from the cytosol requires the classical nuclear import machinery, involving proteins KPNA1 and KPNB1, as well as LRRC59 . By similarity. Post-translational modification: In the nucleus, phosphorylated by PKC/PRKCD . By similarity. Sequence similarities: Belongs to the heparin-binding growth factors family.
