Lyophilized from a 0.2mm filtered concentrated (1mg/ml) solution in 20mM PB, pH 7.0, containing 4% mannitol.
storage stability :
This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8°C, but should be kept at -20°C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is stable for up to one week at 2-8°C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20°C to -70°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles
other info1 :
Source: E.coli. Molecular Weight: Approximately 10kDa, a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 84 amino acids. Physical Appearance: Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
other info2 :
Biological Activity: Fully biologically active when compared to standard. The activity calculated by UMR106 cell/cAMP method corresponding to a specific activity of 0.9 x 104 Units/mg. Endotoxin Level: Less than 1EU/mg of rHuPTH1-84 as determined by LAL method. Reconstitution: We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Reconstitute in sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Stock solutions should be apportioned into working aliquots and stored at <= -20°C. Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions.
products description :
Polypeptide hormones secreted by the parathyroid glands, which promote release of calcium from bone to extracellular fluid by activating osteoblasts and inhibiting osteoclasts, indirectly promote increased intestinal absorption of calcium, and promote renal tubular reabsorption of calcium and increased renal excretion of phosphates. It is a major regulator of bone metabolism. Secretion of parathyroid hormone increases when the level of calcium in the extracellular fluid is low. Its action is opposed by calcitonin.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is a hormone secreted by parathyroid cells. This hormone elevates blood Ca2+ level by dissolving the salts in bone and preventing their renal excretion. Defects in this gene are a cause of familial isolated hypoparathyroidism (FIH). [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
PTH: PTH elevates calcium level by dissolving the salts in bone and preventing their renal excretion. Stimulates [1-14C]-2- deoxy-D-glucose (2DG) transport and glycogen synthesis in osteoblastic cells. Defects in PTH are a cause of familial isolated hypoparathyroidism (FIH); also called autosomal dominant hypoparathyroidism or autosomal dominant hypocalcemia. FIH is characterized by hypocalcemia and hyperphosphatemia due to inadequate secretion of parathyroid hormone. Symptoms are seizures, tetany and cramps. FIH exist both as autosomal dominant and recessive forms of hypoparathyroidism. Belongs to the parathyroid hormone family. Protein type: Secreted; Apoptosis; Hormone; Secreted, signal peptide. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11p15.3-p15.1. Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region. Molecular Function: RNA polymerase II transcription factor activity, enhancer binding; type 1 parathyroid hormone receptor binding; parathyroid hormone receptor binding; peptide hormone receptor binding; hormone activity. Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; response to drug; positive regulation of signal transduction; induction of apoptosis by hormones; positive regulation of glycogen biosynthetic process; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; positive regulation of bone mineralization; G-protein signaling, adenylate cyclase activating pathway; Rho protein signal transduction; cellular calcium ion homeostasis; G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; positive regulation of glucose import; response to ethanol; cAMP metabolic process; response to vitamin D; response to cadmium ion; cell-cell signaling; regulation of gene expression; response to lead ion; positive regulation of cAMP biosynthetic process; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; skeletal development; bone resorption. Disease: Hypoparathyroidism, Familial Isolated
