products description :
Purified recombinant Human TGF beta 3 protein. The three mammalian isoforms of TGF beta, TGF beta1, beta2, beta3, signal through the same receptor and elicit similar biological responses. They are multifunctional cytokines that regulate cell proliferation, growth, differentiation and motility as well as synthesis and deposition of the extracellular matrix. They are involved in various physiological processes including embryogenesis, tissue remodeling and wound healing. They are secreted predominantly as latent complexes which are stored at the cell surface and in the extracellular matrix. The release of biologically active TGF beta isoform from a latent complex involves proteolytic processing of the complex and /or induction of conformational changes by proteins such as thrombospondin-1.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the TGF-beta family of proteins. The encoded protein is secreted and is involved in embryogenesis and cell differentiation. Defects in this gene are a cause of familial arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia 1. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2009]
uniprot summary :
Function: Involved in embryogenesis and cell differentiation. Subunit structure: Homodimer; disulfide-linked. Interacts with ASPN. Ref.8. Subcellular location: Secreted. Involvement in disease: Defects in TGFB3 are a cause of familial arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia type 1 (ARVD1) [. MIM:107970]; also known as arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy 1 (ARVC1). ARVD is an autosomal dominant disease characterized by partial degeneration of the myocardium of the right ventricle, electrical instability, and sudden death. It is clinically defined by electrocardiographic and angiographic criteria; pathologic findings, replacement of ventricular myocardium with fatty and fibrous elements, preferentially involve the right ventricular free wall. Ref.10. Sequence similarities: Belongs to the TGF-beta family. Sequence caution: The sequence CAA33024.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.
