Control

This product is usually used to make standards, calibrators and single analyte controls, and for multiple tumor marker analyte controls due to the highly reproducible low cross reactivity of all major tumor marker antigens especially Ca125 and Ca 15-3.

Biological Significance: Gastrointestinal tumor antigen is a large glycoprotein defined by a carbohydrate epitope, CA 19-9, located on a protein core mucin. It is referred to in the literature as sialylated Lewis A (Lea). It is over expressed by epithelial tumors of the gastro intestine including the stomach, small and large intestine, colon, pancreas and cervix. These mucins are largely carbohydrate, 80-90%. Biohazard Information: The Cell Line Supernatant was tested and found non-reactive for HIV1&2 Ab, HBsAg, HCV Ab, HIV-1 and HCV by nucleic Acid Test (NAT) per current FDA methods. Please note that the samples tested were Cell Culture Supernatants, not Serum and not appropriate for use in these Assays. This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small, appropriate care must be taken when handling this product. Tested at the serum donor level by FDA approved methods and found negative for HIV1 & 2 antibodies and antigen, HCV antibodies and HBsAg. Additional Remarks: Excellent for controls and calibrators.
