Species: Human. Source: Human seminal fluid. Protein Type: Native. Biological Significance: Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a protein produced by the cells of the prostate gland. PSA is present in small quantities in the serum of men with healthy prostates, but is often elevated in the presence of prostate cancer and in other prostate disorders.

Biohazard Information: This product has been tested at serum donor level by FDA approved methods and found NEGATIVE for HIV I/II, and HCV antibodies and Hepatitis B surface antigen. It is recommended to observe full safety precautions when handling this amterial, since no testing method can completely assure the absence of all infectious agents. Contaminants: SDS-PAGE shows a single band at ~30,000 daltons, corresponding to the molecular weight of PSA. Additional Remarks: PSA content assayed and correlated using the new AXSYM IMX system calibrator. Total Protein determined by Lowry and OD.
