Biological Significance: The Tamm-Horsfall glycoprotein (THP) also known as uromodulin is a glycoprotein that in humans is encoded by the UMOD gene. Uromodulin is the most abundant protein in normal urine. Uromodulin may act as a constitutive inhibitor of calcium crystallization in renal fluids. Excretion of uromodulin in urine may provide defense against urinary tract infections caused by uropathogenic bacteria.

Biohazard Information: This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling this product. Immunogen: Tamm-Horsfall glycoprotein antibody was raised in sheep using human Tamm-Horsfall glycoprotein (Uromucoid) purified from urine as the immunogen.
