other info1 :
Biological Significance: Angiopoietin-2 is a homolog of Angiopoietin-1 (mouse and human Ang-2, 496 AA; ~85% identity) that has recently been identified. It may act an antagonist for Ang-1 and the Tie-2 receptor. Ang-1 and Ang-2 have ~60% sequence homology.
other info2 :
Immunogen: Angiopoietin 2 antibody was raised in rabbit using 20-aa peptide from mouse Ang-2 as the immunogen.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is an antagonist of angiopoietin 1 (ANGPT1) and endothelial TEK tyrosine kinase (TIE-2, TEK). The encoded protein disrupts the vascular remodeling ability of ANGPT1 and may induce endothelial cell apoptosis. Three transcript variants encoding three different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
