products description :
Biological Significance: Zika virus (ZIKV), a Flaviviridae family member is transmitted to humans by mosquitoes of the genus Aedes, the same type of mosquito that carries dengue fever, yellow fever, and chikungunya virus. It was first isolated in Ughanda, Africa in 1947.Since the 1950s, it has been known to occur within a narrow equatorial belt from Africa to Asia. From 2007 to 2016, the virus spread eastward, across the Pacific Ocean to the Americas, where the 2015–16 Zika virus epidemic reached pandemic levels. Implications in Disease: The most common symptoms of Zika are fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis (red eyes). Presently, there is no vaccine for ZIKV or treatment for Zika fever.
