The antiserum is prepared by immunizing rabbits with mouse IgG. It is polyvalent with respect to classes of mouse immunoglobulin. The antiserum is specific for mouse immunoglobulin: It does not react with mouse serum proteins other than immunoglobulins; it does not cross-react with immunoglobulins of most other species but it does cross-react with rat immunoglobulin.
