products description :
Recombinant human PEAK1 (1127-end) was expressed by baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells using an N-terminal GST tag. Scientific Background: PEAK1 or Pseudopodium-enriched atypical kinase 1 is a protein tyrosine kinase which belongs to NKF3 kinase family and regulates the cytoskeleton and has been shown to be involved in cancer progression (1). PEAK1 promotes anchorage-independent growth in the MDA-MB-435 human cancer cell line and promotes tumor progression of XPA-1 human pancreatic cancer cells when transplanted into the pancreas of nude mice. PEAK1 is highly expressed in spleen, followed by heart, ovary, brain, lung, kidney, and fetal brain (2).

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a non-receptor tyrosine kinase that is a member of the new kinase family three (NFK3) family. In migrating cells, the encoded protein is associated with the actin cytoskeleton and focal adhesions and promotes developing focal adhesion elongation. This protein may play a role in the regulation of cell migration, proliferation and cancer metastasis. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2014]
uniprot summary :
Function: Tyrosine kinase that may play a role in cell spreading and migration on fibronectin. May directly or indirectly affect phosphorylation levels of cytoskeleton-associated proteins MAPK1/ERK and PXN. Ref.7. Catalytic activity: ATP + a [protein]-L-tyrosine = ADP + a [protein]-L-tyrosine phosphate. Ref.7. Subunit structure: Interacts with BCAR1 and CRK. Ref.7. Subcellular location: Cytoplasm cytoskeleton. Cell junction focal adhesion. Note: Colocalizes with F-actin in serum-rich medium. Actin colocalization is reduced during serum starvation. Ref.7. Post-translational modification: Phosphorylated on tyrosine in a CSK-dependent manner in response to adhesion to fibronectin and to EGF stimulation. Autophosphorylated in vitro. Ref.7. Sequence similarities: Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily.Contains 1 protein kinase domain. Sequence caution: The sequence BAB15006.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation. The sequence BAC87076.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.
