products description :
Recombinant human PFKFB4 (2-end) was expressed by baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells using an N-terminal GST tag. Scientific Background: PFKFB4 (also known as 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-biphosphatase-4) regulates the steady-state concentration of fructose-2, 6-bisphosphate, a potent activator of a key regulatory enzyme of glycolysis pathway called phosphofructokinase. Isozymes of PFKFB differ in the regions surrounding the catalytic core, which are important for the differential response to allosteric effectors and hormonal signals in different tissues (1). PFKFB4 is highly expressed in brain, heart, liver, muscle, placenta, adipose tissue, ovary, fallopian tubes, and testis (2).

uniprot summary :
Function: Synthesis and degradation of fructose 2,6-bisphosphate. Catalytic activity: Beta-D-fructose 2,6-bisphosphate + H2O = D-fructose 6-phosphate + phosphate.ATP + D-fructose 6-phosphate = ADP + beta-D-fructose 2,6-bisphosphate. Enzyme regulation: The most important regulatory mechanism of these opposing activities is by phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of the enzyme . By similarity. Subunit structure: Homodimer . By similarity. Sequence similarities: In the C-terminal section; belongs to the phosphoglycerate mutase family.
