Antigen: Phosphopeptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding the phospho Tyr298of Xenopus EphrinB. Note: Xenopus Tyr298 is the homolog of human, mouse and rat Tyr317 and also chicken Tyr305. Immunogen Information: Synthetic phospho-peptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding Tyr298 conjugated to KLH. Immunogen Species: Chicken
other info2 :
Reactivity Assumed Based on 100% Sequence Homology: Bovine, canine, chicken, human, mouse, non-human primate, Xenopus and zebra fish. Species Reactivity Note: The antibody has been directly tested for reactivity in Western blots with rat tissue. It is anticipated that the antibody will react with bovine, canine, chicken, human, mouse, non-human primate, Xenopus and zebra fish based on the fact that these species have 100% homology with the amino acid sequence used as antigen. Biological Significance: EphrinB proteins are thought to play key roles in cellular functions as diverse as neuronal migration and blood vessel development (Flanagan and Vancerhaeghen, 1998; Dufour et al., 2003; Oike et al., 2002). EphrinB molecules expressed at the membrane surface bind to the EphB family receptors on target cells during cell-to cell contact. This interaction leads to cell signaling in the target cell but also generates a reverse signal in the cell expressing EphrinB on its surface. This reverse signaling event is thought to be critical for vessel maturation and neuronal development. Importantly, tyrosine phosphorylation of EphrinB is thought to be a critical component of this reverse signaling event (Palmer et al., 2002). Recent work suggests that phosphorylation of a specific EphrinB residue (Tyr298) plays a key role in EphrinB signaling (Kalo, et al., 2001)

uniprot summary :
Function: Receptor tyrosine kinase which binds promiscuously transmembrane ephrin-B family ligands residing on adjacent cells, leading to contact-dependent bidirectional signaling into neighboring cells. The signaling pathway downstream of the receptor is referred to as forward signaling while the signaling pathway downstream of the ephrin ligand is referred to as reverse signaling. Functions in axon guidance during development. Beside axon guidance, also regulates dendritic spines development and maturation and stimulates the formation of excitatory synapses . By similarity. Catalytic activity: ATP + a [protein]-L-tyrosine = ADP + a [protein]-L-tyrosine phosphate. Subunit structure: Heterotetramer upon binding of the ligand. The heterotetramer is composed of an ephrin dimer and a receptor dimer. Oligomerization is probably required to induce biological responses . By similarity. Subcellular location: Cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein . By similarity. Cell projection axon . By similarity. Cell projection dendrite . By similarity. Tissue specificity: Wide tissue distribution throughout development and sustained expression in adult brain. The longer form (CEK5+) is specifically expressed in the central nervous system. Sequence similarities: Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. Tyr protein kinase family. Ephrin receptor subfamily.Contains 1 Eph LBD (Eph ligand-binding) domain.Contains 2 fibronectin type-III domains.Contains 1 protein kinase domain.Contains 1 SAM (sterile alpha motif) domain. Sequence caution: The sequence AAA48667.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.
