CRC64 (FRaMon) recognizes complex-specific epitope but not dissociated GP IIb or GP IIIa. CRC64 inhibits platelet aggregation by blocking fibrinogen binding to GP IIb-IIIa. CRC64 does not react with platelets from patients with the hereditary deficiency of GP IIb-IIIa (Glanzmann's thrombasthenia). F(ab')2 fragments of CRC64 (FRaMon) are used a base for antithrombotic preparation Monafram (or FRAMON) belonging to the class of GP IIb-IIIa antagonists.
